Flying in from out of town?

Which is the best airport to flight into?
Well it depends on where you are flying in from.
There are 2 airports in the surrounding area: Manchester and Logan-Boston.
Manchester is 18 miles from the castle.
Logan-Boston is 38 miles from the castle.

East coaster check out southwest deals. Many flights into Boston are $49 one way.
West coasters check out Jetblue and Virgin America for the best deals.

Worried about a DD?

There will be a shuttle service provided from the Holiday Inn to the castle through out the wedding. So party on worry free! ;)

Searles Castle
An authentic English Tudor castle nestled in the New Hampshire woods, high atop a 175 acre estate. The perfect place for a fairly tale wedding. Just picture it; stone work, tall towers, fall leaves. Its like stepping back in time without the DeLorean.

A Brief History
Searles Castle was built under the direction of Edward F. Searles, an interior decorator and antique collector. Having traced his ancestry to the Oxfordshire Harcourt family, he engaged the prominent architect, Henry Vaughn to design the castle in the style of Stanton Harcourt Manor in Oxon County, England. The building was completed in 1915 at a cost estimated to have been in excess of $1,250,000. The castle, located at 21 Searles Rd. in Windham, NH, contains 20 rooms.
Searles is said to have employed the finest masons and woodworkers to construct the castle, and imported marble and artifacts from Europe to furnish it. Examples of the fine work are found in the carved oak balcony, and the marble fireplaces. Edward Francis Searles was born on July 4, 1841, In Methuen, Massachusetts. At the age of thirteen he went to work in a cotton mill to support his widowed mother and his brother. His love of art and music, later to be his hallmark, were in evidence early in his life. At the age of twenty-one he was teaching piano and organ in Bath, Maine.
In 1875, after an apprenticeship with a Boston firm, Searles became an interior decorator for the prestigious Herter Brothers of New York City. In 1881, he met Mary Hopkins, a Herter Brothers client, in San Francisco. Her husband, Mark Hopkins, part-owner of the Southern Pacific Railroad, had died in 1878. He left his wife an inheritance of sixty-one million dollars. Mary Hopkins commissioned Searles to design the interior of her Nob Hill home, and to work on Kellogg Terrace in her birthplace of Great Barrington, Massachusetts. They were married on November 8, 1887 in New York City. He was forty-seven; she was about sixty-seven. From Mary's death in 1891 until his own, Searles was involved in building projects in Methuen, Massachusetts, as well as Salem and Windham, New Hampshire. He died in 1920.

Searles willed the castle to his secretary, Arthur T. Walker, who died in August of 1927, leaving it to his brothers and sisters. They sold it to Mr. And Mrs. Frank Andrew of Methuen, Massachusetts, in 1930.The Sisters of Mercy acquired the castle in 1952. Since then it has been used as a novitiate for young women entering the Sisters of Mercy; a retreat house; and administrative offices. Castle College held classes in the castle for over twenty-five years.
Because the building needed extensive repairs, Castle College moved to a wing of the Sisters Of Mercy motherhouse on the property, and the castle was closed for five years. During those five years, repairs were made to the roof and building. In 1991, in an effort to restore the interior of the castle, a "Decorators' Showcase" was held. Through the generosity of those interior designers and contributions received over the years from many benefactors, the interior of the building has been refurbished. Since that time, the castle has been available to the public for social, cultural spiritual and business events.
In November of 2001, the Sisters of Mercy contracted David and Linda Kolifrath of Salem, New Hampshire to organize and manage events held at the castle. At this time it was decided that operations would be expanded to include weddings and receptions in the castle courtyard in an effort to better utilize the facility, better serve the needs of the public, and to raise additional funds to further the charitable programs of the Sisters Of Mercy.

Searles Castle at Windham is easily reached by Interstate 93 from the north and south and by Route 111 from the east and west. We are located on the same grounds as the Sisters of Mercy Motherhouse.
From Interstate 93
From I-93, northbound or southbound, take Exit 3, (Windham / Canobie Lake) and bear right at the end of the exit ramp onto Route 111. Route 111 will bear a sharp left at the traffic lights immediately after the junction of I-93. Bear left and continue along Route 111 East. About one-tenth of a mile, turn left at St. Matthew Church onto Searles Road. Follow signs for Searles Castle on your left as the road goes uphill.

Bridesmaid's Dresses

Well I guess it's about time I filled some of you on some of the plans for this horse and pony show. I decided to go through David's Bridal. Mostly because most of my bride's maids are in different parts of the country. So here is the Bridesmaid's dress I have picked out. Let me know what you think.
It's Long Soft Capped Sleeve Gown Style 84036 Color Truffle

Here is the link:

http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Long-Soft-Capped-Sleeve-Gown-84036?sms_ss=google&at_xt=4d8693ae8011f3a6%2C0

I just found out it's on sale too. Now the dress is only available online. So you can order it and have it altered at any David's Bridal.

Shoe ideas.

I thought this might work for the shoes. Black does with everything right....
Satin Platform Sandal with Removable Flower Style FLAMENCO

I like the adjustable flower on the shoe. My shoes have flowers on the side of the sandal strap.  I'll be posting those when they come in. ;)
But really wear shoes that feel comfortable to you.

No Jewelry will not  be needed. If you do choose to wear jewelry stick with silver jewelry. During the ceremony all the brides maids will be wearing a shawl.  It's to go with the Irish theme.

It all started with the proposal

Everyone has a proposal story. Be it original, romantic or cheesy. The point is that you have come to this stage in your relationship where you want to spend the the rest of your life with this person. This person that turns your world upside down and inspires you on a daily basis.

In my story that person is Mr. Sean Bishop. We first met at Comic Con dining at an Indian restaurant with fellow storyboard artists. Being the green horn of the bunch I struck up a conversation with Mr. Bishop who was sitting across from me. I remember my ears perking up when I heard he was a board artist for Dreamworks. I won't lie, I was there to network. So I politely asked if he would look at my portfolio and give me notes. He was very open to the idea and encouraged us to meet up back in LA to go over things. Overjoyed with the prospect of a mentor, we continued to chat into the night.

The Proposal was 6 months in the making. He was a sneaky one that Mr. Bishop, but for good reason. The only clue I was given is that it was going to be during an "ER" month, and it was only July. Then one day in Nov. Sean asked me to pick up some things for dinner. When I returned I rounded the porch to the leg lamp window. But instead of that classic glowing leg I find a beautiful bell jar with a single rose suspended in the jar.

I flung open the door and ran into the leg lamp room. There Sean stood next to a full size replica of the Bell Jar from "Beauty and the Beast."

The LED lights in the base of the jar illuminated the room. Music played in the background as Sean took my hand. He gestured towards the base of the jar where a sparkling stone lay in the middle of a light show. Only then did I realize that it was a ring and what was happening.  I started to cry and wrapped my arms around Sean. "Yes, yes a thousand times yes," I said.

It was official... we were engaged. ;)
Later I found out that a friend and co-worker with Sean, Gary Trousdale (Director of "Beauty and the Beast") had blessed the rose in the jar. For someone that was never into the whole Disney Princess BS,  I just became a full  member.

Who knew that if you wish upon a star, dreams really can come true...
